Members of the knitting club in the Boskoop area enjoy making small knitted pullovers, scarves, hats, ponchos and blankets with their own two hands – and each year, before Christmas, with the help of the SOEB foundation, they collect the pieces made throughout the year and transport them to Romania, where we distribute them to children during the holidays through Caritas Catolica’s network. For Dutch grandmothers participating in the program, knitting is both a favorite pastime but also, for many of them it is the only way they can do something meaningful and good in the world. Many of them find it difficult or impossible to leave their homes due to diseases of advanced age. And knitting is a great way to make their free time valuable and bring joy to children with the work of their hands, without having to leave the comfort and safety of their home. Thanking them for their hard work and perseverance over the years, we would like to wish them a blessed holiday with photos of this year's pullover-distribution. Thanks to them, about 170 kindergarten children and 80 elementary school children received hand-knitted gifts this year. We would like to say special thanks to the representatives of the SOEB foundation, who undertake the collection, categorization and transportation of the products year after year, and also participate in the distribution with us. The beneficiaries of this year's action include preschool children from 2 kindergartens in Sacueni, on in Oradea, and one in Tasnad, as well kids from the afterschool program of Caritas Tasnad. We would like to give special thanks to Julianna Püsök, deputy director, who guided us to the kindergartens belonging to the structure of the Petőfi Sándor Theoretical High School in Sacueni.
