EACH LIFE IS IMPORTANT FOR US !
We try to describe in a few words the Branch Office of the Catholic Charity Association Oradea from Marghita .
The reason is that our programs and activities appeal to people of any age.
Care-centre for old people
The social pyramid of Romania shows an increasing trend of the old people’s rate. This centre responds to the medical and the social needs of the old people.
In the summer of 2004 the centre began its activity offering assistance for 12 old people, who needed special and permanent care . The number of requests are increasing, so we should extend our activity but our financial situation do not allow this extension.
The centre satisfies the necessities of old people, ensure: lodging, three meals daily, clean clothes, bathing facilities, heating, medical care and medicines. The boarders benefit from social and refreshing activities, they can watch TV, read the newspapers and borrow books from the library, play chess and rummy, celebrate their birthdays and attend religious ceremonies. The living room is at the disposal of these persons for the above mentioned activities and is open till 22 o’clock. Residents confined to bed can watch TV programs too, because each room is equipped with a TV set.
This year some voluntaires offered their services to spend some time with the old people. At Christmas eve carol singing children visited our centre and warmed up the soul of the elderly boarders.
The statistics are the following: 4 men and 8 women between 50-79 resp. 56-96 are living in our house. 6 employees take care of them: like nurses, medical and social assistents, physicians if necessary, providing a good quality care all day long.
The Consulting-room
The Consulting-room of Charity Organisation offers its services to people of all ages: children, adults and old-people.
This year we managed to improve the equipment with the acquisition of two apparatus to carry out the analysis of urine resp. of blood. Thanks to this equipment we reduced the waiting and queues (the results are given in a few minutes), and the expenses of gathering were eliminated too. Now it is enough only one drop of blood from the finger to accomplish the prescribed analysis.
The Consulting-room is opened from Monday till Friday between 8-14 o’clock offering not only a large diversity of lab-analysises, but different injectable treatments, bandaging, lending orthopedic-apparatus (walking-sticks, walking frames, wheel-chairs) and measuring the blood pressure as bonus for peple who are coming for a check. Minimum 15 persons are coming daily, their number is increasing.
The social-canteen
The beneficiaries of this social-service are persons over 60, rroma people (gipsies), children coming from large families or with unemployed parents, the most frequently people who are social-cases. A warm meal is cooked daily for approx. 70 persons, more than half of them get it free of charge, because they are not able to pay for it, they have no income or have a very low one. A voluntary delivers the meal for the persons in need, who are not able to leave their home. The menu is set up depending on the state of health, age and grade of nutrition of the beneficiary.
The Home-care centre
The purpose of this programe is the care of old people in their own environment. The beneficiaries are people confined to bed and only thsese people. A medical-assistant calls on the ill-people following the indications of the family doctor or the authorised specialist. She/he measures the blood-pressure, the level of glicemy and cholesterol in blood, changes the bandages, gives injections, changes the nappies, gives a bathe or borrows orthopedic apparatus. If necessary we provide nappies, besides we instruct the family-members, who overtake the care. There are approx. 50 ill persons - 40 of them from urban and 10 from rural areas, who benefit from the above mentioned services.
Caritas Catolica Tasnad
In 1995 a little group of people began to be active in solving the problems raised by poverty. At this time our Parish got back from the state a building which was a former property of it, and was nationalized in the socialist era. As returned, it was put at our disposal, so we could start our charity activities.
With the active contribution of Mrs. Szabó Vera - who left Romania in 1996 and since that time has been living in Austria – we became partners of the Roman Catholic Parish Dürnstein led by the parson Rafael Hugo de Vlaminck.
At that time, a lot of problems waited to be solved, so we were pushed to intensify the development of the social-net.
Thanks to the support of our partner from Dürnstein, in 1996 we could start a Policlinic. On the 4-th of April 1997 were inaugurated the consulting – rooms, in which specialists in internal medicine, neurology, otolaryngology, ophtalmology, cardiology, IM and ecography hold surgery.
Since 2004 specialists from the laboratory of Medical Charity Satu-Mare have been coming twice a week to Tasnad in order to collect the laboratory-tests from ill people.
The German Government helped us to build a Social Center, since 1997 it has opened for the public, within the Center for home-care as part of it. Medical assistents in cooparation with social assistents are interested in social cases and they found many of this kind. So we registred these needy people and helped them with clothes and food too.
In 1999, 2000 and 2004 the Red Cross from Austria offered us four ambulances, two of them were donated to the Ambulance Station from Satu Mare resp. to the local Hospital, and two remained in our center, which we use to transport ill people to the Policlinic or Sanatorium.
In 1999-2000 we started a project in order to help the most disadvantaged people the rroma or gipsy ethnical groups. The main goal of this project is to educate the rroma-children and to help the youth to find a job.
In 2001 the Social Canteen began its activity, giving a warm meal for 30-40 persons. The Local Council from Tasnad allocated 100.000.000 old Lei for this canteen. A company namely Victarianob finances monthly - since its existence - the canteen with a sum of 15.000.000 old Lei. Other juridical and physical persons support materially our canteen and policlinic.
The activities of our charity organisation are mostly carried out by volunteers, for more than 10 years they have been trying to do their best to contribute to a better and human-worthier life of our fellow human beings.
In 2005 we succeeded to build the s.c.Large Room financed with a banc-loan. This room serves to continue the more than 100 years old cultural and social tradition of our community.
Our Charity Organisation is part of the civil-society, is nonpolitocal, nongovernmental and not only represents but also practices the universal-christian-values all over in our communities.
